Last Blog of the year

I shot this when I was taking my fashion pictures. She had kittens running around everywhere and so I told her to pick one up, i think the flash actually stunned it cause there eyes had only been opened for about a week. Again, i dont know the power the power the flash was on cause it was a knob instead of a dial with numbers.

FASHION-SEMESTER

I used my friend Emily Yates for my fashion project because she has a lot of cute clothes, she's really pretty, and she has lots of flower headbands. I went to her house and set up a sheet and lights. Her mom helped me do that. I was going to play in my dad's studio but he was doing dance pictures ALL weekend! So I grabbed some light stands, lights, and a white sheet. The lights I grabbed weren't the flashes I'm used to using...I think they were studio lights. My dad was taking dance pictures so I couldn't get him to help me learn how to use them, I had to teach my self. It wasn't that hard; they were actually a little easier to use. They didn't have exact power settings, just knobs to adjust the power. It took about an hour and a half to do all of it. She is a saint for putting up with me telling her what to do for that long. I can't exactly say what all of my power settings were because there wasn't an exact setting.

Senior Assembly

I asked to shoot senior assembly because I really wanted to see what it was like. It was so hard to take pictures because it was so dark in there and the spot light was wimpy. So i had to fire the flash straight on. It made my pictures really bright. It took me a while to get it right cause I was using a 28-135 lens and it changes apertures when you zoom in and out. It was annoying. But I got some decent shots.

Album Cover

This weekend i decided to knock out my semester projects. I was taking my little brother's friend home and realized he had cowboy hats. So i asked him if i could use him since i already had gear. I set up my light with an umbrella on his right side. I borrowed lights from my dad, and they weren't flashes. They were strobes though, it took me a while to figure them out. The light didnt have buttons like a flash. There weren't number powers, i was just a nob which i thought was so much easier to work with. But i got it. I chose to redo Kenny Chesney's Hemingway's Whiskey album. We had to actually shape the cowboy hat because it was flat. That is why it doesnt look exactly like it. My settings were iso-200 f/13 and my shutter speed was 1/250.
Monday I was helping Heather take pictures of last minute newspaper stuff. They asked me to take a picture of Chelsea on the computer on facebook. I just sat her in front of the computer and angled them both towards me. It was a very easy assignment. I have been editing my fashion so I haven't been able to do anything rreally elaborate. my iso was 400, f/4.0, and my shutter speed was 1/40.

Texas High Mascots 2011

I had a photo assignment to take pictures for the newspaper of the mascots. Natalie had her suit taken to the cleaners so i had to have them wear the same suit. Not ideal. but it worked. It was a cloudy day today so i didnt really have to worry about it being too bright. my iso was 200 f/4.0 and my shutter speed was 1/1600.

Palm Tree and Maddi

This weekend I went down to South Texas with with my family. We were on a a lake and it had lots of palm trees around. It was super pretty. It was at night and the lights looked really cool shinning on the trees. my iso was 800, f/2.8 and my shutter speed was 1/40.

My aunt also wanted me to take a picture of my cousin with her violin. So i had her stand next to some pretty flowers. We were pressed for time to get to the wedding so i couldn't spend very long on them, but i think it turned out ok. I set my focus point so it would blur her face out and focus on the violin. It makes it more dramatic. my settings were iso 400 f/4.0 and my shutter speed was 1/125.

Powered Out

With all the storms going on my power went out. And my whole family was sitting on the couch with all of their electronic devices: my dad on his ipad, my brother and mom both on their phones. I really like the way the light is lighting up their faces. I set my iso to 400 and my aperture at 4.0 and left the shutter open for 6 seconds. My brother doesn't know how to stay still. He kept moving, and i really couldn't do anything about it.
